Privacy Policy

Ralphy ("Ralphy", "we", "us") makes a personal finance app for iPhone. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Ralphy to need as little of your data as possible, and we never sell it.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address.
• Financial information. If you connect a bank, our provider Plaid securely retrieves your account details, balances, and transactions (date, amount, merchant, and category) so Ralphy can forecast your safe-to-spend. You can also log cash transactions yourself.
• Data you create. Categories, recurring payments, notes, and settings you add in the app.
• Limited technical data. Basic information needed to operate the app reliably (e.g., app preferences). Ralphy does not include advertising or third-party tracking SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites.
• Day-level activity. We record which days an account uses the app to understand how many people arrive and return. These markers do not record individual visits or times of day.
• Optional app usage. If you turn on Share app usage in Settings, we record visits and use of your spend limit, its explanation, and purchase checks. These records include your account identifier, random visit and event identifiers, event time rounded to the minute, upload time, and app version/build. They contain no financial values, purchase inputs, merchants, screenshots, or typed text. This setting is off by default and separate from Help improve Ralphy, which covers records of the financial guidance we show you and outcome research.

How we use it

• To provide the core service: computing your numbers and syncing your data across your devices.
• To keep your linked accounts and transactions up to date.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the app.
• To understand return visits and, when you opt in, which features people use so we can improve Ralphy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How your bank connection works (Plaid)

Ralphy uses Plaid Inc. to connect to financial institutions. When you link a bank, you enter your credentials directly with Plaid, and Ralphy never sees or stores your bank username or password. Plaid's handling of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. You can disconnect a bank at any time in the app, which revokes Ralphy's access at Plaid.

The beta waitlist on this website

This section covers the email form on this site, which is separate from the app and does not require an account. If you join the list we store the address you type, the country your request came from, your browser's user agent, the page that referred you, and two random tokens: one that confirms the address is yours, and one that takes you off the list. We use it for one thing, which is emailing you about the Ralphy beta.

You can leave at any time, in one click. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and it takes effect immediately without a reply from us. Your mail app's own unsubscribe button works too. To have the record itself deleted rather than marked, email hello@getralphy.app. We do not sell this list, share it, or use it for advertising.

Service providers

We share information only with providers that help us run Ralphy, under contracts that limit their use of it:

• Plaid: secure bank connections and transaction data.
• Apple: Sign in with Apple authentication.
• Convex: secure cloud database and backend that stores your data so it syncs across your devices.
• Cloudflare: hosting for this website, and the storage behind the beta waitlist above.
• Resend: delivery of the beta waitlist emails. Used only for the list, never for anything in the app.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all of your data at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app. This permanently removes your data, transactions, and linked banks from our systems and disconnects your banks at Plaid. You can also request deletion by emailing us.

Optional app-usage records cover a 30-day history; daily cleanup removes older records. Turning Share app usage off stops new uploads and starts deletion of that usage history. Larger histories are deleted in batches. Pending usage events on your device are cleared when you opt out or sign out; otherwise they expire after 24 hours. Account deletion also removes usage records. Vendor-managed backups age out under the provider's retention controls.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit, bank connections are tokenized through Plaid (we never store bank credentials), and access is scoped to your account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

Your choices & rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information (for example, under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA). You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Children

Ralphy is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above; material changes will be communicated in the app.
